Purpose

The purpose of the Fairfax County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Volunteer Association (herein referred to as the Association) is to improve the disaster and emergency preparedness, response and potential for recovery for residents in Fairfax County, VA.

Mission

The mission of the Association is to support the Fairfax County CERT Program in leading our community toward preparedness and resiliency from threats of terrorism and emergencies of all kinds by empowering every individual through education, training, response and volunteer service.

Goals

The goals of Association are to support the CERT Program in:

  • Developing and Sustaining membership and community support to fund programs in support of our purpose and mission.
  • Educating the people in Fairfax County to prepare themselves, their family, friends, and neighbors for incidents of any type, large or small, until trained emergency responders.
  • Training individuals of community emergency response teams as a ready support resource for Fairfax County during emergencies.
  • Exercising incident response capabilities supporting community events through Volunteer Service as neighbors helping neighbors.
  • Responding appropriately to emergencies in our communities with trained CERT members.
